AliExpress Unveils New Offerings for U.S. Sellers Enhancing Flexibility

AliExpress, an international online retail marketplace, announced an expansion to its AliExpressLocal program, introducing the new AliExpressLocal Marketplace model as well as advanced integration tools. Designed to enhance flexibility and operational ease for local sellers, the new offerings underscore AliExpress’ continued commitment to empowering merchants as the platform celebrates its 15th anniversary.

In October 2024, AliExpress announced the launch of AliExpressLocal Direct, welcoming U.S. merchants onto the platform for the first time. With the launch of Marketplace, the AliExpressLocal program will feature two distinct models, allowing sellers to tailor their approach based on business capabilities and goals.

The New and Improved AliExpressLocal

  • AliExpressLocal Marketplace: A self-serve, marketplace model providing sellers with maximum autonomy. With this model, U.S. merchants have more flexibility in determining the pricing, marketing, and merchandising of their products. Additionally, merchants will have access to helpful tools, including sales and traffic data, the ability to create personalized post-purchase emails, and full control over the minimum advertised price (MAP).
  • AliExpressLocal Direct: The ideal model for merchants seeking hands-on assistance from AliExpress, this program will offer sellers help with marketing and merchandising at no additional cost. Additionally, AliExpress will provide valuable tools for price management and customer support, streamlining shop management processes.

Each model offers comprehensive and personalized support for local sellers, including a three-month free trial, 1:1 onboarding process, and shop launch assistance. Sellers across both models will also benefit from essential functionalities such as inventory management and order fulfillment tools, enabling smoother operations. No matter the choice, sellers can confidently explore a new channel to expand their business.

Further bolstering support for local sellers, AliExpress is also introducing two application types based on sellers’ developer qualification: AliExpress Open API and Third-Party Software Vendor (ISV). These tools enable SaaS platforms to integrate directly with AliExpress, enabling merchants to more effectively automate product listings, receive real-time inventory updates, make pricing adjustments, and better navigate order management and fulfillment tracking. Designed with the specific challenges of sellers in mind, the API reduces manual tasks by synchronizing data, allowing for smoother multi-channel management across different marketplaces. This reduces the risk of human error and provides sellers with more accurate, up-to-date information to make informed decisions.

BorderX Lab, a global e-commerce company which is building and empowering AI shopping agents, selected the AliExpressLocal Marketplace model and is utilizing the AliExpress Open API for a seamless experience. “We chose the Marketplace model because it offered the most flexibility for managing our pricing and marketing strategy, while still benefiting from AliExpress’ infrastructure and customer service support,” said Albert Shen, CEO of BorderX Lab. “The API integration has been instrumental in enabling us to efficiently upload thousands of product listings. We’ve already seen compelling early results and expect to continue driving our growth through the platform.”

“As we celebrate AliExpress’ 15th anniversary, we’re thrilled to continue innovating and expanding opportunities for local sellers in the U.S.,” said Chris Carl, Head of Marketing, AliExpress U.S. “The new Marketplace model and integration tools reflect our ongoing commitment to flexibility, ease-of-use, and empowering businesses to reach our diverse and rapidly growing customer base. It’s an exciting milestone, and we look forward to seeing sellers leverage these offerings to accelerate their growth on AliExpress.”
