OpenAI Launches Official "OpenAI Newsroom" for X Users

OpenAI Newsroom is now officially an X handle. Today, the leading AGI company announced @OpenAINewsroom on X for company news, updates, and the occasional clarification — which means, it will be activating its prolific AI data and intelligence for millions of US-based subscribers and users.

First Post and Early Success

In its first X post (formerly Twitter), OpenAI Newsroom wrote: “Breaking news– we have a news handle.” It took the company nearly two years since the launch of ChatGPT3 to get started with a news-centric handle on one of the world’s popular social media networking platforms.

Within 30 minutes, the handle had more than 8500 followers.

Presence on LinkedIn

On LinkedIn, the company has more than 5.5 million followers. It’s on LinkedIn where OpenAI announced its official X Newsroom for the audience. This is a crucial juncture for X as a platform for political advertising ahead of the US Presidential election later this year. Earlier this year, OpenAI announced renewed efforts to protect the world’s biggest democracies from the malicious use of generative AI, including deepfakes and misinformation. The company also joined the Steering Committee of C2PA to strengthen the digital content frameworks used to generate, share, and store information.

Key Factors Leading to the Launch

So, here are the 3 biggest factors leading to the launch of OpenAI Newsroom’s X handle:

  1. Provide an official account of the company’s news, insights, and updates;
  2. Provide a collaborative and safe ground for AI systems to prevent abuse;
  3. Play a neutral role in the world’s political events

OpenAI Newsroom is expected to uphold its commitment to “creating safe AGI that benefits all of humanity.”
