Leadership appointments at major digital platforms often signal where the next phase of growth is headed, especially as commerce, media, and AI continue to converge across the MarTech ecosystem. Pinterest has announced the appointment of Kecia Steelman to its Board of Directors, a move that strengthens the company leadership bench as it deepens its focus on shopping, advertising, and visual discovery.
Pinterest said Kecia Steelman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ulta Beauty, will join the Pinterest Board of Directors effective February sixteen two thousand twenty six. The appointment brings extensive retail and brand building expertise to the board at a time when Pinterest is positioning itself as a more powerful commerce and performance advertising platform.
“Kecia is a seasoned executive with deep experience leading large-scale businesses and connecting consumers with brands they love,” said Bill Ready, Chief Executive Officer of Pinterest. “Her track record of growing global businesses, building omnichannel experiences, and partnering closely with brands will be an asset as we continue to transform Pinterest into the leading visual discovery and AI-powered shopping platform, especially for Gen Z.”
Steelman has spent more than three decades leading large scale retail organizations across categories including household goods, consumer packaged goods, and beauty. She joined Ulta Beauty in two thousand fourteen and held multiple senior leadership roles, including Chief Operating Officer and Chief Store Operations Officer, before being named President and Chief Executive Officer in January two thousand twenty five. Her experience spans store operations, merchandising, and omnichannel execution, areas that closely align with Pinterest evolving role in commerce discovery.
“I’m honored to join Pinterest’s Board at a pivotal time for the company,” said Kecia Steelman. “I’ve long seen the value that Pinterest brings for its users and advertisers. Over the past few years, the platform has grown into a go-to shopping and performance ad platform. I look forward to working with Bill and the leadership team to support Pinterest’s next chapter of growth and unlock even more value for brands around the world.”
Before joining Ulta Beauty, Steelman held leadership roles at several major retailers, including Family Dollar Stores and Home Depot. She began her career at Target Corporation, where she advanced through a range of retail operations and merchandising roles with increasing responsibility. In addition to her executive responsibilities, Steelman currently serves on the boards of the Bay Club Company, the Retail Industry Leaders Association, the Adler Planetarium, and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
The addition of Steelman to the Pinterest Board of Directors reflects the company broader strategy of strengthening ties between digital discovery and real world retail execution. As Pinterest continues to expand its commerce capabilities and advertiser tools, board level insight from seasoned retail leaders is expected to play a key role in shaping product direction and brand partnerships. For advertisers and merchants, the appointment underscores Pinterest intent to accelerate its evolution as a platform where inspiration, discovery, and shopping increasingly intersect.
