The continued consolidation of premium out of home inventory is reshaping major metro advertising markets, and Adams Outdoor Advertising latest move underscores the strategic value of Charlotte for national and regional brands. Adams Outdoor Advertising announced it has completed the acquisition of select assets from Parkway Outdoor, further strengthening its leadership position in the Charlotte, North Carolina market.
The transaction includes 15 billboard assets, made up of 14 static faces and one digital display. With this acquisition, Adams Outdoor Advertising expands its presence along some of the most heavily trafficked airport and commuter corridors in the region, reinforcing its ability to deliver consistent reach and high frequency exposure for advertisers targeting the Charlotte metro area.
The assets were acquired through a transaction supported by Johnsen, Fretty and Company, which provided closing assistance. The newly added inventory is concentrated along critical transportation routes used daily by commuters and travelers, including I 77, a major artery connecting residential areas, business districts, and Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Several of the billboards are positioned to capture attention from audiences traveling to and from the airport, a key consideration for brands seeking visibility among both local and visiting consumers.
The acquisition also includes a single face digital display located on I 85 South near North Concord and Kannapolis. This corridor serves as an important inbound route into Charlotte, connecting University City, Uptown, and the airport. Together, the locations offer advertisers strong visibility across the most important commuter and travel paths feeding into the city.
Charlotte Douglas International Airport continues to experience sustained growth, now serving close to 60 million passengers each year and ranking among the busiest airports in the United States. A significant share of that traffic comes from local origin and destination travelers who rely on Charlotte primary highways to access the airport. Adams Outdoor Advertising newly acquired assets align directly with these travel patterns, providing durable exposure in areas with consistent traffic volumes and long term advertiser demand.
Following the close of the transaction, Adams Outdoor Advertising now operates 74 digital billboards across the Charlotte metro area. The company also confirmed that additional digital expansion is planned later this year, signaling continued investment in the market as demand for high impact out of home media grows.
“Charlotte is a must have market for advertisers, and market ownership here continues to be a key strategic priority for Adams Outdoor,” said Kevin Jones, Chief Executive Officer of Adams Outdoor Advertising. “This acquisition further solidifies our position as the dominant out of home provider in Charlotte and strengthens our ability to deliver unmatched reach along the market’s most important travel corridors.”
As Adams Outdoor Advertising expands its Charlotte footprint through the Parkway Outdoor acquisition, the move highlights how control of premium transportation corridors is becoming central to long term growth in out of home advertising, reinforcing Charlotte role as a critical market for brands seeking scale, visibility, and sustained audience engagement.
