Elastic Announces General Availability of Agent Builder

The expansion of enterprise AI development tools is accelerating, and Elastic Agent Builder is emerging as a foundational platform for teams seeking to move agentic AI from experimentation into production. Elastic announced the general availability of Elastic Agent Builder, introducing expanded capabilities designed to help developers build secure, reliable, context driven AI agents at enterprise scale.

Built on Elasticsearch, Elastic Agent Builder focuses on what the company describes as context engineering, the process of delivering relevant and trusted information to AI agents so they can perform complex tasks accurately. As enterprises work with vast volumes of structured and unstructured data, the ability to search, analyze, and retrieve the right context has become critical to effective agent behavior.

Elastic Agent Builder brings together data preparation and ingestion, retrieval and ranking, built in and custom tools, conversational experiences, and agent observability within a single platform. This unified approach simplifies the agent development lifecycle, allowing developers to chat with enterprise data or build custom context driven agents in minutes rather than weeks.

“Agent Builder has native MCP and A2A protocol support, enabling seamless deployments within Microsoft Foundry and Microsoft Agent Framework,” said Amanda Silver, CVP, Microsoft CoreAI. “This gives our users a way to build context rich, agentic AI leveraging Elasticsearch as a Knowledge Source and powered by Microsoft Foundry.”

Ecosystem partners see the release as a step toward production ready agentic systems. “Agentic systems fail today because connecting AI to tools and data is complex,” said Sam Partee, co founder at Arcade.dev. “Elastic Agent Builder with Arcade.dev gives developers a structured, secure way to handle how agents retrieve context, reason, and act, taking agents from demo to production grade.”

Context quality is also a central theme for data intensive enterprises. “Unlocking enterprise context from unstructured data sources is key to building effective agents,” said Jerry Liu, CEO at LlamaIndex. “Elastic Agent Builder combined with LlamaIndex’s complex document processing strengthens the critical context layer, helping teams retrieve, process, and prepare data so agents can reason more accurately and deliver better outcomes.”

Alongside the general availability announcement, Elastic introduced Elastic Workflows in technical preview. This capability extends Elastic Agent Builder by allowing agents to take reliable actions across systems using rules based automation. While many agent frameworks rely on large language models to plan every step, Elastic says enterprises require predictable execution for operational tasks.

“Agent Builder simplifies working with messy enterprise data, giving developers a secure, reliable foundation to build context driven agents at scale,” said Ken Exner, chief product officer at Elastic. “Elastic Workflows complements this foundation by giving those agents built in, rules based automation for simple tasks. By enhancing Agent Builder with Workflows, teams get a single system that delivers both intelligent reasoning and dependable automation, which is exactly what enterprises need to move from pilots to real world impact.”

As demand for scalable agentic AI grows across observability, security, and digital operations, Elastic Agent Builder positions Elastic at the center of how enterprises build, govern, and operationalize AI agents with confidence.
