Gemini 1.0 LLM (Large Language Model) is being updated to the Gemini 1.5 Flash AI model. The popular Google chatbot and a true rival to ChatGPT – ‘Gemini’ is now even better performing with the introduction of the Gemini 1.5 Flash AI model. This update follows Meta’s recent rollout of new features for Meta AI. This real-time and free generative AI tool will be powered by the Gemini 1.5 Flash model for both – mobile and web. The Gemini 1.5 Flash AI model will replace the previous Gemini 1.0 Pro LLM.
‘Flash’ emphasizes the model’s speed and efficiency. It conveys the idea of quick, instantaneous processing, aligning with the model’s core function.
So, what does that mean for the free users?
It means faster responses, better results, and no inventive answers! (read: AI hallucinations)
The new model can process up to 32K tokens, allowing for more complex and in-depth interactions. This translates to more conversations and the ability to solve more complex questions. And to reiterate – these advanced features come free of charge.
You’ll also be able to upload files via Google Drive or from your device – a feature that was up until now, available for Gemini advanced (paid) users. So now when you have a 108-page whitepaper to understand and make a presentation of it for your company, you’d rather ask Gemini to summarise it for you and provide you with the key takeaways.
In essence, Gemini 1.5 Flash will be a more powerful, accessible, and reliable AI model with a wider range of applications. It is a significant step forward in AI technology and user experience.
Making it more accessible to teenagers
Before the recent development, access to Gemini for teens was significantly restricted. The AI model was primarily available to a limited countries for teens having google accounts among other groups such as researchers, developers, or specific user groups. With the Flash 1.5 update, Google has significantly expanded access to Gemini for teens. The AI model is now available in over 40 languages and accessible to teens who meet the minimum age requirement to manage their own Google accounts.
This expansion aims to provide teens with a safe and beneficial AI tool to support their learning and creativity.
