Quora has emerged as one of the most frequently cited knowledge platforms in Google’s latest AI-powered search experiences. According to new research from Semrush, Quora ranks as the fourth most-cited domain within Google’s AI Mode, appearing in 7.25 percent of AI-generated responses roughly one in every fourteen answers. The finding follows earlier Semrush research that named Quora the number-one most-cited source in Google’s AI Overviews, reinforcing its growing influence in AI-driven information delivery.
Unlike AI Overviews, which automatically appear above search results, Google’s AI Mode requires users to opt in to receive AI-generated answers instead of traditional listings. Quora’s prominence across both features underscores its reputation as a trusted knowledge hub and a channel frequented by users with strong intent to learn, research, and make informed decisions.

“Ranking high in both Google AI Overviews and AI Mode underscores Quora’s unique position as a go-to source for knowledge that AI systems rely on,” said Vinay Pandey, Chief Revenue Officer at Quora. “For brands, it means Quora content is influencing decisions at key moments of discovery.”
Semrush’s AI Mode study offers a deeper look at why Quora content frequently appears in Google’s AI-generated summaries. The research shows that AI citations depend more on topic relevance than keyword matches, signaling an emphasis on contextually rich content. Threads with high engagement metrics averaging 37 replies and 15 upvotes were significantly more likely to be cited. Additionally, AI-generated responses drew on synthesis rather than duplication, with under 50 percent direct overlap between the AI text and the original Quora answers. Content marked as relevant by Quora’s own machine learning systems was nine times more likely to be cited in Google’s AI responses.

The analysis highlights a dual benefit for brands active on Quora. Beyond connecting with the platform’s 400 million monthly unique visitors, high-quality, engagement-driven content can now surface within Google’s AI-driven search experience extending reach and influence well beyond Quora’s own ecosystem.
By ranking consistently among top-cited sources, Quora is solidifying its role as a cornerstone of the evolving search landscape, where human conversation and AI synthesis increasingly converge to shape what users see, trust, and act on.
