Snowflake and OpenAI Sign $200 Million Deal To Deliver Enterprise AI at Scale

The race to make artificial intelligence practical, secure, and enterprise ready is accelerating, and a major new alliance is set to influence how large organizations deploy AI across their data environments. Snowflake and OpenAI announced a multi year partnership valued at 200 million dollars aimed at bringing advanced AI capabilities directly into the Snowflake platform, enabling enterprises to build and scale AI agents using their most trusted data.

Snowflake said the Snowflake and OpenAI partnership is designed to combine enterprise grade data governance with industry leading AI models through joint product development and coordinated go to market efforts. Under the agreement, OpenAI becomes one of the primary model providers within Snowflake platform offerings, making its models natively available to Snowflake more than twelve thousand global customers.

Through Snowflake Cortex AI, organizations can now access OpenAI models across all three major cloud environments. This integration allows enterprises to deploy context aware AI applications and agents that reason directly over governed enterprise data. Models such as GPT 5.2 will also be available within Snowflake Intelligence, the company enterprise intelligence agent that enables employees to analyze and act on organizational knowledge using natural language.

“By bringing OpenAI models to enterprise data, Snowflake enables organizations to build and deploy AI on top of their most valuable asset using the secure, governed platform they already trust,” said Sridhar Ramaswamy, Chief Executive Officer of Snowflake. “Customers can now harness all their enterprise knowledge in Snowflake together with the world class intelligence of OpenAI models, enabling them to build AI agents that are powerful, responsible, and trustworthy.”

OpenAI said the partnership reduces friction for enterprises seeking to move from experimentation to real business impact. Fidji Simo, Chief Executive Officer of Applications at OpenAI, noted that Snowflake central role in enterprise data management makes it an ideal environment for deploying AI applications at scale. “This partnership brings our advanced models directly into that environment, making it easier to deploy AI agents and apps, so businesses can close the gap between what AI is capable of and the value they can create today,” she said.

Several global brands are already planning to leverage the collaboration. Canva and WHOOP will use OpenAI models within Snowflake to support research, analytics, and decision making across their organizations. Leaders from both companies emphasized the importance of combining advanced reasoning capabilities with strong security and governance as their platforms scale.

“As we scale our visual AI offering on Canva, both OpenAI and Snowflake have played key roles in how we rapidly empower our users with new creative tools,” said Helen Crossley, Head of Data Science, Canva. “As our platform continues to scale, Snowflake has been foundational to how we manage and activate data, and we’re excited to explore how leveraging OpenAI models in Snowflake Cortex AI can help us extend that foundation. The ability to bridge advanced AI models with our enterprise data allows us to move quickly and test new ideas, without compromising on security or performance.”

“Speed and precision in decision-making are critical for us as WHOOP continues to scale,” said Matt Luizzi, Senior Director of Business Analytics, WHOOP.  “Rolling out Snowflake Intelligence to our employees and developing Cortex Agents has provided a secure and governed way for WHOOP to analyze data and make decisions. With OpenAI’s models available directly within Snowflake Cortex AI, we can further enhance those agents with advanced reasoning and analysis, all while maintaining strong security and governance. This partnership will help us continue to make AI a practical, everyday tool for the business.”

Beyond customer deployments, the Snowflake and OpenAI partnership also deepens existing collaboration between the two companies. OpenAI uses Snowflake internally for data analytics and experimentation, while Snowflake teams rely on ChatGPT Enterprise to support productivity, decision making, and cross functional collaboration.

For the MarTech and enterprise data ecosystem, the Snowflake and OpenAI partnership represents a significant step toward agentic AI becoming a practical business tool rather than a standalone innovation project. By embedding advanced AI models directly into a trusted data platform, the agreement sets a new benchmark for how enterprises can deploy AI responsibly, securely, and at global scale.
