SOLUM and EWQ Expand Partnership To Advance Integrated In-Store Digital Communication

As physical retail environments increasingly adopt connected technologies to enhance customer engagement and operational efficiency, solution providers are investing in integrated communication systems that unify digital touchpoints inside stores. The expanded partnership between SOLUM and EWQ highlights growing momentum around in store digital communication as retailers seek scalable infrastructure to modernize shopping experiences.

SOLUM, a global retail solutions provider listed on KOSPI, and retail infrastructure innovator EWQ announced an expansion of their strategic partnership during EuroShop, aiming to accelerate the deployment of integrated digital communication systems across retail environments. The collaboration builds on an existing relationship between the companies and focuses on deeper technology integration and commercial cooperation to create a unified platform linking Electronic Shelf Labels, large format E Paper displays, and digital signage.

At the center of the partnership is the integration of EWQ’s ScanToPair solution with SOLUM’s Newton ESL platform and digital signage hardware. ScanToPair enables retailers to connect products with digital displays through simple barcode scanning, automatically synchronizing pricing and product information across multiple in store screens. The companies say this capability helps improve pricing accuracy, reduce operational complexity, and deliver more consistent customer experiences.

Under the expanded agreement, SOLUM will provide the hardware infrastructure supporting electronic shelf labels and display technologies, while EWQ contributes the software layer through its ScanToPair technology and EWQ ZONE platform. Built using a modular microservice based architecture, the combined solution allows retailers to manage pricing, promotional content, and customer engagement across multiple store touchpoints from a single scalable system.

The partnership also includes a long term collaboration strategy aimed at expanding adoption across additional markets. Initial deployment efforts will focus on the Nordic region, where EWQ maintains a strong operational presence, with further geographic expansion expected to be evaluated as the collaboration progresses.

“We believe retail environments should evolve into connected zones where brands and customers interact seamlessly. Expanding our partnership with SOLUM enables us to integrate digital touchpoints in a way that enhances customer experience while delivering measurable operational value for retailers,” said Sampo Brisk, CEO of EWQ.

Gisle Elvebakken, Country Manager for the Nordics at SOLUM Europe, emphasized the importance of ecosystem collaboration in modern retail transformation. “This expanded collaboration reflects the openness of SOLUM’s ecosystem and our commitment to working with strong partners to deliver the best possible solutions to retailers. By integrating our hardware leadership with EWQ’s advanced software capabilities, we are supporting retailers in building scalable and future-ready digital infrastructures.”

The expansion underscores a broader retail technology trend in which physical stores are evolving into digitally connected environments capable of synchronizing pricing, content, and shopper engagement in real time. As retailers pursue omnichannel consistency and operational automation, integrated in store digital communication platforms are becoming essential components of next generation retail infrastructure.
