Broadsign Acquires Place Exchange to Accelerate Programmatic Digital OOH Growth

Broadsign has announced the acquisition of Place Exchange, marking a significant consolidation in the rapidly expanding out of home advertising technology landscape. The deal, supported by a minority investment from Crestline Investors, unites two major forces in programmatic digital OOH advertising and positions Broadsign to scale innovation across global markets while providing publishers and buyers with greater access to premium digital inventory.

Broadsign said the acquisition will combine its content management platform, ad serving tools, and buy and sell side capabilities with Place Exchange’s independent supply side platform and programmatic technology suite. Together, the companies aim to deliver a comprehensive end to end OOH technology stack that better aligns with the increasingly digital nature of outdoor media buying and selling.

The announcement comes at a moment of accelerated growth for the OOH sector. The global ad market is projected to reach 992 billion dollars this year, with OOH spending expected to exceed 49 billion dollars in 2025. Broadsign CEO Burr Smith said the timing reflects the urgency for modernization across the channel. “Demand for OOH advertising continues to hold strong, but for the OOH market to seize new growth opportunities, rapid evolution is key. The acquisition of Place Exchange will allow Broadsign to deliver the most comprehensive OOH advertising solution in the market. We see the future of OOH as smarter, more efficient, dynamic, and measurable. With Place Exchange’s team and technology, and Crestline’s investment, Broadsign will deliver on that vision much faster.”
