FedEx Introduces FedEx® Sustainability Insights

FedEx Introduces FedEx® Sustainability Insights
A ground-breaking solution offers shippers with a new API and bases emissions reporting on actual network scan data.

With the U.S. release of a new tool, FedEx® Sustainability Insights, FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) is utilizing scan data from its unrivaled global logistics network to improve consumer access to emissions information.

This ground-breaking cloud-based engine, developed by FedEx Dataworks, estimates CO2 emissions for both individual tracking numbers and FedEx.com accounts using almost real-time FedEx network data. With their free FedEx.com login, users can access past emissions data by account and search by tracking number. For all qualified FedEx Express®, FedEx Ground®, and FedEx Freight® shipments, data is shown in a number of parameters, including method of transportation, service type, and country or territory.1

The FedEx Sustainability Insights capabilities form the basis of a new set of solutions for e-commerce customers. Customers can upload their historical and prognostic emissions data to their own internal systems using an application programming interface (API). The predictive API capabilities are powered by machine learning, which can assist clients in managing their supply chain, improving operational compliance, and adding emissions predictions to their online store for their customers.

“We’ve heard from our shippers that they need more data on their shipping footprint as consumers increasingly weigh sustainability as a factor in purchasing decisions,” said Executive Vice President and Chief Customer Officer Brie Carere. “As part of our shared goal of a more sustainable future, FedEx is enabling customers to get the information they need by developing innovations like FedEx® Sustainability Insights.”

These new services support FedEx Corp.’s initiatives to lower emissions across all of its global operations as it works toward becoming carbon neutral by 2040. FedEx® Sustainability Insights will help the company achieve this aim as it optimizes its operations by offering information on further opportunities for network efficiency through data-backed predictive insights and modeling.

FedEx is concentrating on areas like electrifying FedEx pickup and delivery vehicles internationally, employing more efficient facilities, fuels, and fleets, and making investments in natural carbon capture in order to move closer to its 2040 carbon neutral operations objective.
